Dr. Melinda Mushonga
Dr. Melinda Mushonga is a Radiation Oncologist at Kingston General Hospital, Assistant Professor , Department of Oncology, Queen’s University , Ontario Canada who completed her undergraduate medical degree and specialty training in Clinical Oncology at the University of Zimbabwe subsequently a Radiation Oncology Clinical Fellowship with the University of Toronto. Clinical sites of interest are Gynecological malignancies, Lung, Breast, palliative radiotherapy, and CNS malignancies. Advancing radiation oncology in transitioning centers by introducing/strengthening advanced radiation techniques and Image guided Brachytherapy (gynecological malignancies) is a career goal.
Dr. Mushonga’s research interests under the framework of global oncology include clinical outcomes research which focuses on access to quality cancer care regardless of background and culturally appropriate evidence-based cancer care, collaborative clinical trials strengthening and bidirectional education and training in radiation oncology.
She is a member of a number of oncology organizations and recipient of prestigious awards including the 2019-2020 Africa Cancer Leader Institute Fellow for African Organization of Cancer Research and Training (ACLI Fellow- AORTIC), Africa Clinical Trials Consortium National Cancer Institute (NCI) award, Global Oncology Leadership Development (GOLD) Princess Margaret Hospital award, University of Toronto Fellowship award, Radiation Oncology program 2020-2022 , ASCO Journal of Global Oncology Editorial Fellow 2021-2022, ASCO Journal of Global Oncology Editorial Mentorship program 2022-2023, ASCO Young Investigator Award 2022 recipient- Breast Cancer Research Fund (BCRF) , Princess Margret Cancer Centre , Global Oncology program Fellow 2022-2023 among others. Dr Mushonga has published in peer reviewed journals which include, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Red journal, eCancer and Clinical Oncology among others.
